Delta Priority Boarding With a Capital One Card?

Anyone who has ever boarded a flight while flying economy class without elite status knows that it can feel like the airline has forgotten about you when they finally board zone 73. Well, apparently, all you need is a Capitol One World MasterCard (not Visa) and you can receive Zone 1 boarding with Delta Air Lines.

Delta boards passengers by zone. Apparently, a Capitol One World MasterCard is all you need for Zone 1.

I had never heard of this until today. This means that just by holding a Capital One World MasterCard, you can board with Delta Silver Medallion members, those who have a co-branded Delta credit card from American Express, SPG Platinum members (benefit of Crossover Rewards program).

With the never ending fight for overhead storage space for carry-on bags, this is a particularly nice perk especially if you have a tight connection and gate-checking your bag could cause you to miss your connecting flight.

There are only two Capitol One cards that come with this benefit:

  1. Capital One Premier Dining Rewards Credit Card
  2. Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card

Neither card has an annual fee which makes this even more fascinating.

Let's get straight to the points...

Does this mean you should run out and get one of these cards if you fly Delta occasionally?

Please. Don't make me laugh. The answer is a resounding NO!

If you happen to have one of these cards already, enjoy the park.

If you don't have one of these cards, there are soooo many better options. The ability to board the occasional Delta flight a little earlier than some economy class passengers just isn't worth it. There are tons of cards that will provide you with more value. Stick to those.

Also, who are boarding in Zone 2 and Zone 3 at this point? Seems like everyone has a way into Premium, Sky Priority, and Zone 1 at this point!

Let me know in the comments if you have this card and have received Zone 1 Boarding on Delta.

See you in the sky!
